At Nauto, we stand against racism, gender discrimination, and other unequal treatment. As a company, teams, and individuals, we have a responsibility to create an equitable and accessible country for all humans, whether Black, Brown, Women, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender.
And it is clear that the time for change is past due. But, change can only happen if we all take part, and we are committed to being a part of the change at Nauto. The following is a letter that was sent to Nauto employees on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. The original letter included suggestions for our employees to affect change locally and nationally, and since then, employees have shared other resources. We encourage our readers, customers, partners, investors, friends, and families to research and act on how they can affect change in their communities.
Letter to Nauto Employees
“Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away and the deep fog of misunderstanding will be lifted from our fear-drenched communities, and in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty.”
— Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Letter from a Birmingham Jail)
You’ve all seen the protests across our country sparked by the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police. There is rage and sadness in our country. We cannot tolerate the current situation facing our fellow Black mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, employees, customers, partners, and humans. It is time to speak about it and to act, peacefully and without violence.
“In the end, we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Let me tell you here and now that Nauto condemns all racism and police brutality. We stand with the Black Lives Matter movement in asking for change in the country. Things cannot continue as they have. We can and MUST do better. As a company, we have a responsibility to our Black and Brown employees, customers, and partners to do so. As individuals, we each have a responsibility to our fellow humans.
These are trying and scary times, for sure, but it is time to act. If you wish to speak out about it personally, please know that you have our support. And if you don’t, there are many other ways to contribute should you choose to do so.
